My name is Marina, I received my first orchid as a gift about 40 years ago and as a neophyte I had to fend for the cultivation myself.
Buying books on orchids seemed to me the best solution but unfortunately they were not exhaustive. By the time they grew to 20-30, they were all Phalaenopsis and Cymbidium hybrids. About 15 years ago I started buying botanical Phalaenopsis and Cattleya; to date I own about 500 plants including Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Epidendrum, Encyclia, Dendrobium, Vanda, Brassavola, Coelogyne with whom I have a relationship of love and hate.
